Inventory Prep & Inventory

What a week it's been. It feels like it will never end - yes, I do realize that it is Friday morning, but not only am I prepping for my inventory next weekend, I have to go and help John with his inventory tonight after work. It's crazy. I've been working lots of extra hours with an incredibly sore left wrist (I don't know what I did, but it's painful), and most likely, I'll be working this weekend too. Then all next weekend. I'm so glad the weekend after my inventory is a long weekend. I'm going to stay inside and do NOTHING! It'll be so nice. I can imagine it now. PJ's and tea and movies. Yipee!

Has anyone watched "Rock of Ages" yet? Surprisingly enough, it's pretty entertaining. Except that they remade Pat Benetar songs. It would have been an amazing movie if they would have just left her songs alone. Mary J Blige doesn't do it justice, but Tom Cruise actually does a pretty good job. I'm listening to the soundtrack now, and it's very amusing!

Other than that, life has been pretty boring. Working so many hours makes me so exhausted, so I don't want to do anything when I come home, and let me tell you, the house has taken a beating. I need to do some major cleaning this weekend. I think I can get it all done in a couple of solid hours, but it's so hard to want to do it after working so much. Gotta get done though. Maybe I should just hire a cleaner!!

Ok. Time to go to work! Yippee!!

Am I?

It's been brought to my attention that I might be too hard on myself. Could it be true? I don't know!

I had a screw up at work, and I don't want to get into too much detail because I'll just get frustrated and insolent again, but it may cost us quite a bit of money. And all I can feel is stupid. I made a stupid mistake, and now I feel like an idiot. My boss wasn't mad at all, just said "shit happens" and moved on. Me, I'm freaking out.

I have been programmed by my former AGI boss to expect perfection, and I won't take anything less. In FSJ, when you screwed up, even the tiniest bit, you were reprimanded, usually with him having a freak fit at you. So, I've come to expect nothing less. I chide my co-worker because he screws up all the time, and it's never anything nearly as large as what I did.

He's the one who told me I'm being too hard on myself.

So, I started thinking. Maybe, yes, I am too hard on myself. But how do you stop that? I'm sure that's part of why I overeat and eat things I know are bad for me. It's got to be. But how do you stop the cycle?

This thing at work happened yesterday, and might take a couple of weeks to resolve. If I'm feeling like this for the next few weeks I'm going to go right insane!

But the worst of it is that I can't even tell my husband. I feel too ashamed to admit that I'm not perfect. I know that I'm not, in life in general, but at work, I'm usually aces. Like, I may mess up, but it's small things. This is a big thing. Nothing to mess my job up about, but I can't get it out of my head.

It sucks. I slept very poorly last night because of it. Kept having weird dreams. Good news is that I didn't overeat too badly last night, and I managed to walk quite a bit with Molly. Down another little bit, so that's a helper. At least my personal life isn't suffering so far.

I will get to my weigh in from Sunday. It was such a good one, but I want to be in a good mood when I write the post. Maybe later today I'll feel better. I want to write the post because I feel so good about it, but I don't want my negativity to be in the forefront of the post.

Ok, off to work. Yay (enter sarcasm).

Random Thoughts...

I think, today, I'm just going to post random thoughts throughout the day. Should be interesting to see what I think up during my work day!
  • I'm thinking about declaring next week (Mon-Fri) a carb free week. I need to kick my own ass, and get back into working out and eating right. I think the first step will be eating right. So, no carbs (other than fruit before 2pm) for 5 days. I did it for 17 when I did the 17 Day Diet so I think I can do it for 5. I'm thinking it might be a good idea to do it once a month, cut out carbs for 5 days, just to keep my metabolism up. And when you don't eat carbs, you lose weight. Perfect!
  • Along with that same thought, I'm thinking about making another 5 day week a meat free week. Just stuff to keep my body guessing, and to help me try out new foods!
  • And, in addition, I'm going to try out a few other things, even when I'm not on my 5 day carb free, or meat free times. No carbs after 2 pm. It worked before, so I'll try it again. It makes sense. Carbs are hard to burn, so why have them an hour before you go to bed, when it's just going to add fat to my ass?
  • As you know, I sprained my ankle back on October 9. I feel as though after 12 days, I shouldn't be in pain anymore. But I can't even jog across the street without being in pain. It's been a very long time since I've sprained anything, and I'm impatient to know how long I'm going to have to deal with this! Should I wear an ankle brace? Should I just do nothing? When can I do a real workout without pain? Can I even go on my tread climber? So many questions. I guess it's time to Google.
  • Great. Google didn't tell me anything good. It could take weeks or months to heal. Dammit. I don't have time for this!
  • I really am tired of this job. Thank goodness we're moving. Since this job is only a temporary assignment, I was hoping that I would be able to find something else within the company after that two months, and that I would be able to continue. Man, I'm glad I don't have to do that. I'm in HR, so I see all of the competitions that have been open since I started, and nothing is appealing to me. The amount of entitlement most of these employees feel makes me so mad that I can't even talk to them. Honestly. Government employees are the worst. I can't wait to be out of the Union. Some people like the protection of the union, I hate it. There are so many incompetent people here that are going to be here forever because they can't get fired. Ugh.
  • I am freezing! Usually everyone in HR is freezing, and I think they're crazy, but now it's me! Usually, over in IT (yes, I work with HR and sit in IT) it's so warm because of all of the computers going up here, but today I'm frozen! It was -3 this morning, but I've been in the office for over an hour and I'm still cold. I need a heater!
  • So, yes, I sit in IT. When I first started, there was an empty desk in HR, so I used it. Then they had another permanent employee start, so I got booted. There wasn't any room for me, so they stuck me in a corner in IT. It's not all bad. They boys are quiet, and I get a lot of freedom because there is no one breathing down my neck all day and making sure I'm not screwing everything up, which I'm sure our director thinks. When I was in HR, I got to look out a window at an awesome view, and now I'm stuck in a corner looking at walls. Not as cool.
  • I'm currently very irritated with my husband, and I am trying so hard not to be. Last night, he didn't call me until 9:40pm. He was just getting home, which is fine, but I was trying to sleep. I was pissy already because he didn't call, and then he called and disturbed me. And he didn't even apologize for it! Then I was up until after midnight. I am trying so hard to not let it bug me, because it'll be a Chetwynd situation again where all I am is mad at him, but man, I'm pissy. It's so bad that I don't even want to talk to him. I'm glad that I have plans tonight with Lisa so that I don't have to deal with him until late. I'll call him tonight super late and see how he freaking likes it.
  • Speaking of that, Lisa and I are going on a movie date tonight to see "The Good Year." I think it looks great! I'll tell ya about it tomorrow!
  • Now my husband is sucking up to me and making me feel bad for being mad at him. Argh!
  • I've decided that I want to travel more outside of the country. I'm back to talking to my husband because I want to know his opinion, but I'm still mad at him! He thinks Vegas, which would be ok, but I was thinking more like China.
  • Maybe a cruise around the Caribbean. That would be fantastic. Spend a few days in Miami, then get on a boat, go to the Bahamas, Turks and Cacaos, and back. Yes, I think that sounds fantastic.
  • It's snowing. Yes, snowing. I don't think it's going to stick around, but it is snowing. Mark your calendar friends; today winter begins!
  • Ugh. It's still snowing. Harder now though.
Ok, I think that's it for today folks! Almost time to go home! Yay!

Working Above My Paygrade

So, apparently, I've been working above my paygrade. That means that I'm going to be doing filing for the next 6 weeks. Apparently that's all I can do.

I think the HR manager is just being a bitch. Excuse my language.

The other HR manager was fine with all of the things I was doing. Basically, my job is to help out the HR assistant because she is so busy. But if all I'm doing is filing, she's still going to get farther and farther behind. She's doing the job of 3 people, and now I'm barely able to help her.

Thank goodness I'm not staying at this job. How much longer until I can move to Fort Nelson?

Tuesday September 6

Well, John made a lot more progress yesterday, including installing the crazy death stairs. The back of our deck is so tall that we have to have like 7 stairs or something, but John couldn't get runners that would work properly, so he bought something to work in the meantime. I'm terrified of them. They're like attic stairs. I hope we can get them fixed REALLY soon.

Yesterday was also my first whole day training the new girl. She's doing very well. I think it's going to take her a few days to get into the routine once I'm gone, but I'm sure she will do fine. I have to remember to show her a few more things today, and then I should be ok.

Yesterday was also an Oil Wives executive meeting. I'm so done with Oil Wives right now, but I think it's just the onslaught of convention. I'm really really hoping that once convention is over it will be fun again. I just didn't even want to be there at all last night. And everything has to be discussed when really it doesn't, and it seems to me that we waste a lot of time. So lame.

Anyways, now you are caught up. I have to go have a shower and prepare for my last day at Grimshaw Trucking!

September?!?

I can't believe it's the first day of September already! The weather is sure making me believe, but I was hoping that since we had such a crappy summer that we'd get a little bit more of a chance at it! Oh well. C'est la vie.

Good news is that I've found someone to replace me. She's young - just graduated last year, and has no experience. I'd like to give her a chance though. I think it's important to give people chances when they are trying something new, like people didn't really give me. It is giving her a chance to figure out what she wants to do with her life, which is great. I also think that she'll be quick to learn, so that will help greatly. It's going to be a rather boring last few days if she does catch on really quickly. I'll be sitting back a lot and not doing anything, which is fine, but damn, will it ever be boring!

Anyways, time to relax. I've already been on the tread climber today, maybe tomorrow I'll attempt the bow flex!

Reading At Work

Yup, that's what I did pretty much all day today. I freaking hate this job. I can't wait to be done.

That's about all I did today. Sad, eh?

Hump Day

It is Wednesday, isn't it? I'm so lost. Hump day. 9 more days left at Grimshaw. Yay!

I'm watching the Sopranos right now. Such a lame show. Maybe if I had watched it at the beginning, it wouldn't be so bad. Anyways. I should go and have a shower and get ready for work, but I'm being lazy.

Yesterday our Bowflex Treadclimber showed up. Monday we got the Bowflex. Now I just need to clean the carpets and then we can get everything set up. I was going to paint the room too, but now I'm too lazy. I'd just rather get it set up so we can start using it - that is why we bought it, isn't it?

And I've been so lazy lately. I made up a plan and haven't stuck to a single part of it. It's getting pathetic. I don't know what it's going to take to get my ass in gear anymore. I've asked for help, support, and I'm getting it, but I'm not doing anything with it. I need to start taking the support, because it isn't going to stay around forever. Sigh. I hope that after this weekend I can get on track. I think camping season will be over, so I can start focusing on other things. All we think about is camping. Soon though, it'll be over.

Anyway. I really should get ready for work.

New Job

It's official - I've got a new job! Not even 3 months after I started at Grimshaw, I'm leaving!

Remember back when I was on the job hunt, I did an interview with the Oil and Gas Commission? Well, I was put on their short list for the next time an entry level position became available and something just became available! I start September 12.

9 more days! And hopefully I've already found my replacement! It'd be nice to have someone trained up before I leave.

But, now I'm nervous. New job jitters. I know that it will be better for me in the long run, but I wish my job now would have been good enough to stay! Oh well.

Back to REAL LIFE

I'm back! I've caught up on all of my blog posts, and I'm here!

While I was gone, I was going to update via my BB, but then I decided that I would just type up my blog in a Word document, and post as I could. I had internet while I was in Golden at my grandparent's house, so I did a bit then, but I was relaxing too much to worry about it! And this way I was able to share photos as well, instead of waiting.

I should be able to keep up now. I'm actually sitting in bed, watching TV, drinking coffee and catching up. I should start getting ready for work but I really don't want to. Not that I'm dreading going to work or anything, but I just don't feel like having a shower, doing my hair and makeup, and making a lunch. Basically all of the things that I need to do before I go to work.

At least I'm not as bad off as John. One of the guys gave his notice while he was gone, and two of the office girls quit, but were talked into staying. It's going to be stressful for him. The guy who quit actually was taking quite a load off of his plate, and now it's going to come right back onto him. I don't expect him to be very happy for the next few weeks. I can just imagine the stress level that he's going to have for the next month or so. I think we will be camping a lot.

And, today is our two year anniversary! Two years married already! I can hardly believe it! Seems like just yesterday (not!). Ok, maybe not yesterday, but these last two years have flown by. I don't think we're going to be celebrating this year, which is ok. I don't mind. As long as John remembers to say something, it's all good!

Anyways. I need to get ready to go! It's probably going to take me longer than normal! I guess today might be a hair back kind of day!

New Job

So, a while back, I couldn't figure out what to write about. One of you lovelies commented that I should tell you about work.

Well, I am basically the office administrator at a trucking company. I answer phones, enter bills, and hang out, waiting for something to happen. It's boring, but completely stress free. I can't ask for much more.

Tomorrow I get my fist paycheck. That's all I'm excited about! Being a paid human being again. So lovely.

Anyways. Gotta go.

Loves!

Postal Strike

Yes! Canada Post is back to work! Finally! Mail should be rolling in starting on Tuesday. Now, hopefully, we can get our Canada Savings Bonds checks for our vacation!

Right now I'm watching a show on TLC about mothers who have babies past menopause. A woman in India had a baby at over 70 with the help of IVF. In India, there is no age limit on women having IVf, where in the US and most of Europe, it's usually only available to women up to their 40s. Where is the line? I'm not sure that a woman of 70 should be able to have a baby, but who am I to judge? Personally, I don't want to be over 35, let alone double that age!

Anyway. Should get ready for work. Another day of the grind! I'm actually happy about going to work, which is so weird. I'm excited to be getting a paycheck again. It's been so long. And I feel like I'm doing something, which is great.

Now. Get ready for work. I have some good crochet projects to share in the next few days also! And a giveaway!

And now the Canucks just have to win. My luck is up today! Perfect day to win a Stanley Cup & get a new job!

More Resumes Out

Ugh, I'm starting to feel very unemployable. So many resumes out, and nothing. Not even through our staffing service. A girl I know just gave her notice, and I had applied there at the beginning of the year, and apparently her boss was asking if I was still looking for a job, but I haven't heard anything yet, so I dropped another resume off. Man, I hope I get something soon.

On a happier note, we just watched Tangled. So cute! The horse is so funny. Man, I love cartoons!

Job Interview

Finally, a job interview that looks good. It's only for a 2 week temporary position, but it's something to get my ass out of the house. So excited! I don't even care if it's only a temp position. Maybe they'll like me so much they'll want to keep me!

So, now I want to get my laundry done, and dishes, then off to the gym. I want to go hard today. I only walked yesterday, and I want to do more today. I didn't feel like I did enough yesterday, even though I was totally tuckered out after the walk.

Have a good Friday everyone!

Another Interview

So, I had an interview with Macenna staffing service. It's a local staffing service, and their success rate is really high. I hope that I hear something soon. Especially considering that I didn't even hear back from the guy from Bergen Financial. He told me he'd call on Wednesday, and that was yesterday. Still nothing today. Thanks for keeping your promise Neil! But, it's actually a good thing, because I don't think it was what I wanted anyways. But still. At least call!

Also, I still have this damn headache. I was doing well with it this morning, so I thought that I was in the clear, but nope. I did get medication for it - ridiculously priced medication. Thank goodness for extended medical! Eight pills was almost $80, but I only had to pay $8. So crazy! $10 per pill!!! What!!!

Oil Wives tonight. Hope it's not too long because my head is still pounding!

Interview #1 of 3

So, had my interview today. Didn't go exactly as planned, but it was ok. He really wants to make sure that the person he hires is a person that will be the exact right fit, and I get that. It'll be him and that person working together day after day. So, he wants to do a 3 step interview process. That's fine. I'm not 100% on this job anyways. It's an administration position that might turn into more of a financial planning role. I'm not sure that I want to get into that when I want to have a family in the next few years. So, I'll wait until Wednesday when he calls to let me know if he wants to interview me again, and go from there. I know there are a lot more jobs out there, so we'll see.

Off to GP tomorrow to buy some clothes. I went though all of my stuff, and I don't have much that I would be able to wear in any administration position, so I need to buy some essentials. Not much though - I don't want to buy a lot and then not fit it in a while! That would suck.

Have a good night all!

Job Interview!

So, I have an interview tomorrow. I applied for a job Thursday around 11AM, and got the call for an interview just after noon. So fast! So, I go tomorrow at 10:30 for the interview. I sure hope that I get it. It's for some kind of financial company, and it would be so nice to get it! I will for sure keep you posted...

The Talk

I just realized I never really wrote about the talk I had with my HR person at work. It went so well that I obviously forgot all about it. Basically, she let me know that once I told her that I wasn't leaving because of money, or staffing issues, or anything that could be changed, she let it go, and just wanted to double check that things were good. It was really nice. We bullshitted for damn near 45 minutes about nothing. It was pretty rad. Yes, I said rad. I was totally prepared to go in guns blazing, because it really pisses me off that companies like AGI like to throw offers at you after you've quit instead of making sure things are going well while you're there. It's a slap in the face. Like, once you've finally decided to move on, they offer you what you should have had all along. So dumb. But, she didn't offer me any of that stuff, so I'm really appreciative of that. I didn't have to defend why I'm leaving or anything. She understands the relief that I'm feeling now that I know that I'm leaving. And next week Trish will finally be back! She's been running job trailers in Chetwynd at a coal mine since August. She was supposed to only be gone for 3 months, but look at how long she's been gone! She has a young daughter at home too (the dad is not in the picture) which makes it hard. But she finally gets to come home! I'm so excited for her. And now they won't be so screwed when I leave! Good for both of us - her because her life can get back to normal, and me because I can get a life again!

I'm not sure why I'm awake so early this morning, but here we are. I still have a bit of the headache from yesterday, but I think it might just be that my back is out. I think I'm going to book an appointment for the chiropractor this week, and then book a massage for the week that I'm off. Then start working on my core muscles! Obviously I'm having an issue with them if my back is out so much. And I could use some motivation to get me losing weight. I've been eating so bad, and barely exercising. Today, I have to go in for one guy and grab some stuff out of freight, and then I might go to the track for a few laps, and then I'm supposed to meet my mom after she gets off work to go again. I think I should try for twice a day on the weekends. Maybe it'll get my metabolism going. And I think it'll be easier for me to run without my mom. She doesn't have much interest in running, and I love to run. It feels so freeing. I want to see if I can do more than one lap. A lap on the inner track is a 1/4 mile. I was running a mile in the summer, so technically I should be able to run 4 laps at a time. I'll try it today. I know when we went skating I couldn't do more than 2 and a bit laps without my legs shaking, but I think that's because I'm not used to skates. I'll let you know how it goes!

Well, since I'm up really early, and don't want to go into work yet, I'll maybe go do some dishes or something. Start the cleaning of the weekend. I need to stop letting my housework slip to much during the week - it feels like all I do on the weekends is clean!

2 Weeks Notice

It's over! The wait is all over. I finally gave my boss my notice today...and I feel so great. Cried a little bit with 2 of the guys at work before because of nerves, then a bit with the boss, but he understood that I need a change, and that's that. I'll give him my resignation letter tomorrow, and then it's 2 weeks and I'm free.

Now to figure out the next job. I have put my resume out at a few places, but I'm not going to worry about it until I'm done my job. If I get called into something, sure, I'll go but I'm not going to pursue anything yet. I think I'm going to need some me time. John doesn't mind if I don't work for a bit, so might as well take some time for myself.

Yay! No more stressing out about quitting! It's done! Yay me!

You have to check out this link below. I randomly found this blog, and holy crap, this is a funny entry...Enjoy!
